Re: Stupid question...About s/c
V3 vortech or procharger. Tapping the oil pan doesn't set well with me. If something goes down with either the engine or head unit, the oil isn't shared.

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
if you wanna buy a used kit youre more likely to find a procharger kit. If I was gonna buy new I swear I think Id try Vortech just to see if they screw you around less than procharger does

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
Can't you put a filter on the drain line back to the pan? I think you get less pressure and wear on the blower with engine oil systems- read that somewhere.

You could probably buy a used cobra lower intake somewhere and then order the rest of the stuff from KB

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
I've been running a V2 for about 7 years now. Yes, it leaked oil where they tapped into the pan...no big deal.
When I had the motor rebuilt, they put on a pan with the bung in it already...problem fixed. Go with the V3 unit. But word of caution...you are just scratching the tip. Look to add a BAP (boost a pump)...while you're at it, will need to upgrade your fuel pumps (Cobra tank with dual pumps). Then, you will need to look to beef up your trans....it never ends.... Welcome to the "SC money pit"

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
Vortech and Procharger are both great blowers. Tapping the oil pan is no big deal and if done correctly it doesn't leak.
You can find both used for decent prices, vortechs are usually cheaper by a couple hundred from what I've seen.

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
If money is no issue I would go with the Vortec system.
Few years back I had to piece a system together, parts were available and every part I got in was very high quality. Cant remember why right now but I had the very same situation you are presenting here, Vortec or Procharger, and I remember putting up a pro/con list and eventually the Vortec came out on top. I would also not buy used though. At least with new you are sure to get everything, Vortec will flash/send you an ECU, their phone help line was always great and with new you wont have to worry about any issues concerning the bearings and moving parts. My opinion is biased as I've never owned a Procharger and have only had the Vortech V2-SQ. Good luck with whatever your endeavor is.

Re: Stupid question...About s/c
V2SQ on the Mach. Nothing but good to say. Only thing I'd do different is an intercooler, and that will probably still happen. Nothing like the feeling when the boost hits!
