Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
Crossover delete is less than all that by a long shot

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
What are the benefits of the cross over delete? I just assumed it was for people who went roots style S/C.
Thermostat is gutted..... I did however get the car down from 220 to 202* on the freeway, took the plastic piece off the shaker that I had go strait to the S/C for "cooling" and it helped out quite a bit.

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
Also looking into water pumps, digging around and I cant believe how much Meziere pumps go for! http://www.meziere.com/ps-1475-1487-wp349s.aspx
My shop recommended Stewart EMP water pump, any one have any experience with them?

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
take your gasket around the shaker off, just to see if you need to exhaust the under hood heat, as a test. It dropped mine by more than 10 degrees. But, my turbo gets super hot.

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
I second nekasrof, I dont see an aftermarket pump helping.
if you look on modular fords they have a thread on cooling and the cooler assembly (where the lower radiator hose connects and the oil filter mounts) is apparently a restriction and a higher flowing pump wont actually accomplish anything due to that restriction

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
I disagree, ive put Electric water pumps on (4) 4v modulars now and i cant say enough about them. On my mach ive had it on there for about 15k miles and ill never go back to stock.
Its the mezeire ewp

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
Cobra's had heat extractors in the hood to keep the heat soak down, just curious if the temps are rising cause the heat has no where to vent(heat rises) when sitting still? When moving, air is moving around the engine from other sources than the cooling fans thus eliminating the heat build up. The next time the temp goes on the rise pull over and open the hood with it still running and see if the temp drops. If it does then you will have to get creative on heat extractors

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
Well curious thing happened yesterday. Beautiful day in GA and I decided to run the car without AC. It started overheating with the AC off! Mind you, my car ran fine after the sensor change with the AC on for a month.
So I pulled her over and the coolant was spraying out the radiator cap. What would make my car overheat without the AC on? Low speed fan setting? Compressor bad?

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
if the compressor was bad it would likely be locked up and you would smoke the belt.
the I would check the fan first - with the ac OFF let the fan come onto low speed by getting up to temp (Around 208 stock settings if I recall) THEN turn the AC on and see if the fan speeds up. If does not, the fan motor is likely shot. If it DOES go to high speed turn the ac back off and then you need to get the car to warm up to 218 if I recall to get the high speed to kick on due to temp. Again, if it doesnt kick on by 220 something isnt right, it could be the fan, the resistor or the ccrm I suppose.

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
So you think that the AC is a coincidence? I know when the AC is on the fan switches to high speed by default. I will check if that is still the case.
Sounds like a short to me. My fan is new, new thermostat, water pump was removed and checked out fine. I also swapped out the CCRM . The only thing that triggers the overheating is going back and forth from AC to no AC. I am trying to rationalize it! Maybe that's where I am going wrong ? Don't mean to hijack the thread, sorry.

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
new doesnt mean anything sadly, electrical stuff if defective will usually die out pretty quickly or last a long time.
the only way I could see the AC factoring in with your particular case (since it was OFF at the time) is that the fan isnt kicking up to high speed due to temp but perhaps it was working with the AC on (or the high speed just took a dump yesterday when it over heated)

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
It's a she-devil! Now everything works fine. Low and high speed fan works. I am left scratching my head.

No worries, I have my Mach benched until I get myself a water pump.

Re: Is my last resort a aftermarket radiator?
I don't know if this will help any ... I had a 95 Mustang 5.0 they were known for having overheating problems since the grills were small . I was running a Vortech S trim and was overheating to 230 whenever I sat at a light more than 3 min. I was running a Black magic fan , 160 degree stat ,Stewart pump and Water wetter in the 50/50 Peak antifreeze. The Ford radiator was a single core , I changed to a dual core with no help. I finally got a triple core Griffin aftermarket and that did the trick.
