Will post back with results when I do.
When I changed mine out to Royal Purple it made the shifting a little better on my Mach

Re: Short throw shifter install

The way I did both my 2001 and Mach was just put the RTV on there and then put the new short throw on there and then took it out. Never had a problem with either one. I did not wait over night or anything. Maybe incorrect, but my personal experience it worked, also on my 2013 GT same thing, just installed and went driving. never used the gasket either and like said above do not forget the little cap part. on my 2001 and Mach I used Steeda Tri-Ax.

Good luck

Got my gaskets today! I'm installing it tonight with a drop light in my broken-down, no electricity, roof leaking garage. And I'm happy to be doing it lol.

The install went well. It took me about 1hr 45mins all said and done. I took my time and also it was 36 with no electricity in my garage lol. So there's that.

Getting the old shifter out was pretty easy. See how I used my socket wrench to pry up the engine side? The shifter overhangs a little, so this worked great. Redneck ingenuity!

Cleaning the tranny mount hole was tedious, but not hard.

I'm really happy with how it shifts. It centers really well, so much so that it makes everyday driving nice too. It's a little noisier with a little more vibration, but I can't really complain about it as it's not bad IMO. I used the Cobra Bobs gaskets and Loctite blue on the bolts. We'll see if there is any leaks at the base here in a few days. I hope not cause it would suck to have to remove everything just to remove the gasket and use silicone lol.

Here's how she looks.

I need to move around the leather boot a little and see if I can make it sit better. Other than that, it looks great.

Re: Short throw shifter install

Looks good
What happen to your blue ball
The shifter will probably be a little stiff at first, but will loosen up after a little while.
The short shifting does make it so nice during traffic and just driving around.
enjoy and congrates on the new shifter

Thanks! I use the azure blue shifter ball only for shows. It's steel and gets super hot or cold depending on the time of year. The white one is great for hot and cold weather so I daily with it. Plus it keeps my blue ball nice and shiny for the shows. It sounds odd re-reading that last sentence lol.

Re: Short throw shifter install

I'm really digging the white shifter ball, where did you get it from? I wouldn't mind one in white and one in black!

I got it from American Muscle. I believe they do have a black one. The fancy jam nut underneath is from MGW.

Re: Short throw shifter install

I just installed this shift. I have a question. The bottom rubber boot on mine is open in the middle and fits down around the small round boot on the factory shifter. does not look to be cut out but was wondering if it came like that. I bought this car uses and wonder if someone has changed something. everything else looks like the pictures above. I just slide the small boot on new shifter and put the bottom boot on too. the new shifter is super tight but drivable. hope it loosens up a little.

Is this the inner boot that is removable that you are talking about? Mine would only fit over the new shifter if the handle was off.

Mine is stiff as well. Especially 5th and reverse. I am told by many that it will loosen up with time. It took me about a week to get used to the difference. It would be nice if mine continues to loosen up, but I can tell that it's better than when I first installed it.
