It's basically to prevent spills during the installation process. Later on during assembly, when they install the dipstick tube it pushes that out into the transmission pan. Nothing to worry about - it's 100% normal for a transmission that hasn't had work performed on it previously. Toss it & enjoy! lol

Just to reassure you, he is right on the money. I had the same thing and rushed to the Ford dealer to find out.

Re: Help Identify this trans part
Yeah, before you go taking anything apart it might be a good idea to take a tape measure and measure the length of both of those transmissions. You'll see the problem then

Re: Help Identify this trans part
Yup I see. Just measured a v6 4r70w at the junk yard. The Marauder is almost a inch longer. If that is the only difference I'll get the driveshaft shortened.

Re: Help Identify this trans part
Its a simple change in the tune to use the 04 transmission in an 03. Your tuner should know what to do.

Re: Help Identify this trans part
I figured you did. I just didn't really understand what you are getting at about the tune from 03 to 04. You have been very helpful, thank you.
If changing from a manual to auto will I need a tune so the motor will idle in gear? I didn't plan on having to get a tune going from manual to auto but will be getting a tune later on when the Vortech SC gets installed. |

Re: Help Identify this trans part
What were you planning to do for a speedo signal?

Re: Help Identify this trans part
If the plug is the same on the manual and auto I'm just gonna plug it up. Or change the plug if different.

Re: Help Identify this trans part
So that will get you connected. That part will plug in.
What were your plans to address the differences between the signal output of the manual and automatic transmission when it comes to that sensor? D

Re: Help Identify this trans part
I think the signal will be the same. A Mach and Marauder both came with 3:55 gears. If it turns out to be different I already have a Ford recalibration tool installed from when I went to 4:10 gears that will adjust the signal as needed.
