Dark Shadow Grey Mach

I ordered an Azure blue mach that hasn't come in yet. A dealer from Davenport Iowa called and said he had a Dark Shadow Grey Mach in. I decided to go look as the picture of that color looks great. Well, the picture is better than the actual color. This is not a workable combination in my opinion. The paint has a great deal of metal flake and makes the flat black of the shaker and stripes look too faded. This reminds me of the black jade (army green) color they had in 1969. It was a color that looked bad even new. If you think you want Dark Shadow Grey I would make sure I looked at one in person and not go by the picture.

It comes down to personal preference. I ordered the DSG with out even seeing the color in person. A couple weeks later, I saw it on the Harley truck and knew it was the right color. The metallic in the paint is better then on the truck and helps with the car not looking so dirty after a couple of days. I love the way the black fades into the paint. Looks badass to me. To each their own I guess.

Always personal preference

No offense intended just advice to check color in person.

Don't get me wrong. Any color mach is still a mach. I liked the color from pictures. It just didn't have the same appeal "to me" in person. It was fairly dusty though.

I ordered azure blue but thought DSG looked best in pics. Now I'm glad I ordered the blue. I think they tried to make a new elanor. As always color is an extreme personal preference and you never really know until you see in person.

How can we lose?

I own a Grabber Orange '70, so my first requirement was 'which color would compromise it best?' Blue was my first choice (remember the color wheel from grade school?), but the dealer's color chip just wasn't doing it justice, and it seemed too risky. Second was black (only because silver was not available), but I, too, thought the contrast between the gloss and matte was not quite enough. That left Dark Shadow Grey as the only remaining option. White is just too reminiscent of Wimbledon White; Yellow too close to Grabber Orange; and Red just too popular. So, my wife and I checked out a DSG Harley Davidson F-150 and fell in love. It is much less "green" than Mineral Grey, and the matte black blends nicely with the metallic grey. Zeater is correct - there is a ton of metallic in the DSG. However, it isn't that bass boat sparkle - instead just enough to give it enough depth to reach right into it.

No one is wrong for picking the color he/she did, but it's fun to hear the rationale for doing so, right? After all we only got three options by which we could differentiate our cars...

oops

Compliment is what I meant - not "compromise." Duh.

Azure blue

I ordered the azure blue to somewhat match my 69 Mach that is Alcapulco blue. The azure looks lighter than the alcapulco but it is still blue. My 69 has the shaker (428 engine) rear spoiler and louvers. I think I will order the louvers on the new Mach to match better. My 69 runs a 12.10 in the 1/4 so I know the 03 will be slower. The interior on the new Mach is a great match to the 69.

I don't even own a Dark Shadow Gray, but I still think it's a really sharp color. Once I saw it in person, on an 03 GT in Charlotte, I almost switched my color! Then when I saw it on the Mach 1 in the pictures Dave Wagner took at the Job 1 shindig, I was really impressed! It's not as "in your face" as the red, blue, and yellow, but it still says "I can kick your butt, but look classy doing it." BTW, my wife keeps telling me I shoulda changed to the DSG, women, what are gonna do

DSG

When I ordered my Mach 1 I was on the fence between DSG and Azure blue. I went with the DSG it is so much nicer than I expected, the metal flake is so deep when you have it in bright sunlight I am glad I chose the DSG. It sure has had its share of head turning.

Azure blue is the color to have but it's a pain to keep clean. Azure blue shows up every little thing almost as bad as black.

I had a black Corvette for the past four years. Nothing looks better than black when it's clean but nothing looks worse when it's dirty. As it was my daily driver, it was a real pain to keep it looking it's best. Azure blue has to be better.

I'm not used to the flat paint. It has no metal flake in the paint. It shows every little smudge.

I originally had a DSG Mach on order. I ordered it without seeing
it first. I love the color on the GTs with the silver Bullet wheels.
I assumed that the grey would look even better on the Mach.

Anyway... I was called by another dealer to tell me that they
have a Zinc Yellow Mach 1 available. I told them I was looking for
a DSG or black one, but would come out and look at it anyway.
When I saw the yellow, I knew right away this was the one for
me. It looks fantastik in yellow!

I saw a DSG Mach about a week later. While there's no such
as an ugly Mach 1, I think I would have been disappointed with
the grey one. Mach 1s should really stand out. Some of the orig-
inal colors are what made the Mach 1 really special. The orange,
the yellow, the Ford Blue, the red, all looked great with the black
stripes.

ALL the '03 Mach 1s are special. I like them all, though I prefer
some colors more than others.

To each his own.

you can't do yourself justice going by others opinions-everybody has there own taste-i was stuck between the yellow and blue although i saw a gt that was the dsg and thought it would look great as well.
i eventually decided to go with the azure,
this is one question you are going to have to figure out for yourself cause once you buy it i don't foresee you painting it

well I backed out of the dsg car for this weekend. the main reason the dealer said the mach1 trunk emblems were on slanted and one side of the mach1 door stripes was and inch up to far from the factory.? this morning i did a vin check and found out the windshield was replaced at the dealer. i didnt have a good feeling about this car from the start . quess its back on waiting for my dealer in va. to get a build date. So the wait is back on... I do advise if any one who finds a mach at a dealer thats been there a while to ask to see a vehical history report to make sure it does not have any transpertation or "hot doging" dammage while its been at the dealer.

its back to the red......

Black98GT,

Funny, my wife can't understand why I didn't get a red one. She likes that the red really stands out and you can make out all the stripes. However, Torch Red remains my second choice. But really, they all look good!
