guess rwhp...

I have nothing else to do right now so I'm putting out a small challenge to see you can quess what the 1st Mach that's dyno'd pulls. I'm guessing:

287 rwhp / 300 rwtq

I'll go with 269 hp and 295 torque.

Better to go with lower numbers so I am not dissapointed.

my hopeful guess of the horsepower / torque peaks at the rear wheels for the 5-speed - 289hp / 289ft-lb

69mach03,

I am secretly hoping that, but the party line is 289/289 (for me, anyway)!

If it broke the 300 mark, I would freak even more than I already have.

Even that would be a bonus as it translates to about 312 at the flywheel. More - well that would be sweet too but I'm not counting on it.

Heck, in todays marketplace just to get what you payed for seems like a good deal. So even if it turns out to be 305 at the flywheel, Ford still did us right.

FYI

272rwhp would translate to ~320fwhp

272/.85=320

Well that's even better. I was doing it wrong - thought you took the rear wheel horsepower and added 15% for stick.

Nice to see the correct way to do it (Rear Wheel Horsepower/.85) ! Thanks for the info.

I was watching some stupid super tuner show the other day and they said that many of the rice burners are actually over rated in the hp department.

Pity them:LAUGH:

I would much rather be underrated like we are.

269.75--315 at the crank minus 15% drivetrain loss (manual) for 269.75 at the rear wheel (yes I know it rates 305 by Ford but I'm guessing they are low by 10hp at the crank)

Each car will respond differently to dyno pulls. This past summer i attended a show where a double-roller dyno was on hand, you wouldn't believe the results some cars got, like this out of the showroon 2002 GT still with seat protective plastics on it, it went from the showroom of the dealership straight onto the dyno...and guess what: factory rated at 260HP(crank), that perticular car pulled a strong 257HP at the wheels!!!!! and believe me i was there to see it....just goes to say....

Wow, that is hard to get used to for me...my current 'hot rod' has a 27 percent parasitic drivetrain loss. Ugh!

So, 215/.73=295

Can't wait for the Mach, but in the meantime, I'm stuck with this.

It's more fun than you think it is!

Oh, and my guess is 280 rwhp/ 295 rwtq. I'm hoping so, anyway!

Not surpising with the weight/parasitic loss if the 4wd drivetrain. Check out the new C&D page 128 for an interesting article on the M2 package for the WRX...don't laugh, it ran a 12.90 quarter mile!

I saw that one...believe it or not, 12 second WRX's are fairly common in Atlanta. Of course, they are fairly modified to get there, though. So is mine.

Last weekend on the dyno I saw one put out 349 whp. Doing the math, that's 478 hp at the crank. Wow, I hope he has tranny money set aside since that's a definite weak spot in the WRX. He's in the high 11's.

Sorry for the OT guys!

I know this is a tick off topic but I just dyno'd my husband's cobra yesterday (shhhh he does'nt know it). Could somebody calucate or project what the hp at the crank would be using the 356.7 rwhp figure? I'm not a math person and I'd appreciate someone's help. I'm gonna give him the dyno slip in his stocking for a stuffer then he can unwrap all his new mod's and have a baseline to use and does'nt have to wait. I had to take the car 100 miles (christmas shopping of course) to get the thing done.

Did anyone ever find out if those numbers that surfaced months back were real? It was the list that said something about emissions certification and listed 289 or 290 rwhp. It looked believable but could have been an internet hoax. I believe this was one of the places that I saw it.
