New Mach 1 Recap Video

If you've followed my story- I'm known as the Mach 1 kid. The guy who got caught up in a bad situation and totaled his '03 Mach 1. I've made a popular tribute video and here's the answer to it: the new Mach 1 Recap Video

If you're not familiar with my story, other pictures and video can be found on the site.

Re: New Mach 1 Recap Video

Motor will be pulled as soon as I get home from college (Christmas). Depending on funds, the "drivetrain" may be back on the road in a few years.

It's good that you're still using the video. We all make mistakes, I'm just glad I'm alive to talk about it. Right now I'm attending Wyotech in Laramie, Wyoming. So, I'm a little closer to you here than I was in Delaware.

If you knew the whole story, you'd know I'd never do it again.

Re: New Mach 1 Recap Video

Just out of curiousity why didn't you make a drag car out of it? Don't see why it couldn't have been made safe for the dragstrip. Great videos. After watching this one I decided to watch some of the other ones.

Would of cost more money than I was looking to spend. I'll put the drivetrain in something more worth my while.

Re: New Mach 1 Recap Video

Good job on the first and this video Vance. I can tell you really miss your Mach. Hopefully you can get her back on the road in another form soon. What are you looking at dropping the motor/trans in--another mustang?

Re: New Mach 1 Recap Video

I saw your original video of the crash and I can't believe it...I know first hand what its like to hit a utility pole. My 03 convertable looked exactly the same after I hit the pole. I hit the pole the same way in the same spot!! All I have left of the convertable is the broken fender emblem which sits in my storage net in my 03 mach...

Good video and songs to go along with it. I assume that was you in the video that started it up? I could actually see a little emotion as you started it up.

Re: New Mach 1 Recap Video

Vance, I hate to ask you this, but how did it happen? Mine suprised me one time when the trans shifted from 1-2 causing the wheels to spin. TC was off and I went sideways so quick I couldn't believe it. If it had been much worse I could have lost it, and I am a great driver.

I was just wondering if this had something to do with your incident?

I'm not sure yet. I graduate December 23rd. My Father's plan for this year is to build a shop, so I'll probably pull the drivetrain and store it inside. I may transplant it in another Mustang at some point and time. I'm actually looking to buy a 94-98 automatic coupe for drag racing purposes only. And we're looking to build a strip motor for the '69. I've got some projects coming up, the Mach 1 may be pushed to the back burner. But I had to buy it from the insurance company after learning it was totaled. I ordered it, waited for it, and was the only one to own it. It'll be reborn sometime in the future.

I didn't like Wyotech's Blairsville, PA campus because the town didn't do much for me. Nashville Auto/Diesel College (NADC) wasn't much. And UTI (of Chicago) never got back in touch with me to schedule a tour. I liked Wyotech and Laramie, so here I am.

Shew, were you injured?

Yes, that was me. The shot around the car with the Fast & the Furious music + driving the car stripped was just being funny. But sometimes it takes some comedy to take away from the drama. It tore me up as soon as it happened and things haven't changed much.

After drag racing at the 1st Annual Modular Fords race at MIR last June, the next day I was driving home from town with my Nitto Drag Radials still on the car. I lost control around the turn and faught to stay out of the ditch on the right side of the road. The radials grabbed hard and drove the car on an angle across and into the grass on the left. There was nothing else I could do but attempt to steer it back onto the blacktop and ended up catching the pole. Tough luck, but a good driver wouldn't of done anything more but oversteered to begin with- drop the passenger rear tire into the ditch and furthermore flip the car into the adjacent field.
