Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

Alrighty....i've heard millions of opinions and have yet to get a complete answer!! lol

slp lm1 cat back paired with either a catted mrt h pipe or a catted prochamber...

which setup is more powerful in hp and tq...and were in the powerband?

i know the mrt sounds better....and if it is only a little less powerful than the prochamber, i think it is worth it...

now for sound...will a catted mrt h pipe and lm1 catback give me a ticket???? i live in nassau county, long island, ny....any ideas of being possibly ticketed for that setup?

thanks,
paul

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

subscribing. I just got my slp lm1 installed yesterday and I love em. I def want to eventually get the full exhaust done but I'm worried that my car might be too loud. If i can keep it where it is now (sound level) and make gains with new mods id be happy.

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

the catted mrt h pipe is a lot louder than the catted prochamber, especially with the slp loudmouth. now, getting a ticket because of a loud exhaust would depend on how you drive
if you go easy on the pedal you can get away almost all the time.
sound wise, i like the mrt h pipe the best, even though is louder than my current setup.

but i love to be able to go open throttle once in a while without been worry about a super loud exhaust, that's why i have a catted prochamber now, and that's why i love the catted prochamber.

performance would be close, i don't think the difference would be too big, as there are no big differences between a catted x and catted h. i think you can expect 10-14rwhp from any of the catted mid pipes out there. don't worry about performance, go with the sound you like the most.

the mrt h pipe has better quality, SS vs aluminum on the catted prochamber, but it's also more pricey.

i went with the mac because of its price, and because the loudmouth is already loud for me.

Good Luck

Mach1dsg awesome response thats exactly what i need for a midpipe and the reason why i need one for some gains and not just to make it louder and still have a good sound with my loudmouths. Thanks!

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

Hey man my advice is to hear the two mid pipes on web sites videos and then choose because of sound. Like he said most mid pipes will get you power it is just a matter of what sound you like coming out the tail pipes. And by sound i mean raspy like an x or cleaned up a bit like a H pipe. YOu know this topic has been talked about alot. I think we finally settled it a little bit that the mufflers set the real tone or sound you hear the mid pipe just lets more of that sound out. Just my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.

I agree! That is why I went with the catted ProChamber also
(w/Borla Stingers).
Just right :ORANGE:

How does the mac pipes hold up? Do they seem like they have good build quality.

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

I regret buying MAC. Their build quality and fitment suck. I got what I paid for. Low price, low quality. I should have bit the bullet and went with MRT, I heard that the fitment is First Class perfect.

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

It seems only a few people have liked mac. It seems that most of the time you do get what you pay for. It seems that in exhaust it is the case to a certain point. Although 700 for a borla catback seems really steep to me.

tred03mach1 has Stingers and a Magnaflow catted X on his and it is loud as hell. You can feel the pulses in your chest. It sounds good though not at all like Magnapacks or LM.

I like to feel it in the seat of my pants and when I drive by and see that people are straining their necks to see who just drove by or who is coming.

Re: Catted Prochamber vs. Catted MRT H-Pipe FINAL ANSWER!

the difference in power on two catted pipes is gonna be small compared to the stock h pipe, let alone between eachother... get the cheapest or if sound is more important to u, get the better sounding one...

The prochamber is an x-pipe and a h-pipe. Check the design on their website. It has an X design in the middle, but the the "chamber" or box is what gives it the h-pipe look or whatever. I have spoken with MAC and they refer to it as a h-pipe instead of an x-pipe. They said you get the low end and sound of a h-pipe and the top end of an x-pipe.

Well I will have to say that, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I wish someone would dyno a x, h and the mac pipe and see what produced the most power.

I will dig up an article that dynoed all three. The Prochamber did produce the best numbers through the RPM range and at peak.
