I cut 1.6's all the time leaving at 4500 with stock suspension. Looking to rev a little higher now that I have an aluminum flywheel.

Re: Clutch And 60ft

I never dump it.. EVER. I feather the clutch/throttle until I feel the car weight transfer and tires grab then do a controlled clutch release with throttle application to WOT. I think it's why I haven't broke anything yet *knock on wood*

Re: Clutch And 60ft

There is alot more to it than releasing the clutch. If you aren't revving it to 7000 or more your 1-2 shift may be before the 60' mark..Add to that a slow 1-2 shift ( Not powershifting) and 60' ft's and everything following really suffer. Chassis setup + driver+conditions all contribute to a good pass.

Thats why you cant get any better than a 1.6 60 ft with a 125 shot.

What launch method should I use with my stock suspension to cut better than a 1.6 60' on the nitrous if not doing a controlled clutch release/throttle application? 6,000 rpm dump?

Nope. The suspension is fully intact, completely stock, as it left Ford. I removed the front sway bar last year and all I got was the suspension unloading when I hit second gear hard causing wheel spin.

What was his 1/4 ET? I'm curious because my weight and HP are very similar.

Bob Ran 11.40's from mid season on. His best was 11.43/118

I'm definitely doing something wrong... He's nearly a full second faster with a 60' that's only 1 tenth better than mine. Not to mention a 5 mph higher trap! I make more power and my weight on my next run will be maybe 20 lbs more than his car. Then again, the only suspension I've changed now is the front struts and I've taken out the front sway bar.

I'm sure he's a good driver, but ain't no way he can shift a car better than me so well that he runs a half second faster and 5 mph higher!! (in the same car, that is-obviously our cars are different)

We'll see if I can drop a tenth or two and gain a MPH or two with my new Bogarts. I'm losing MPH somewhere!
