O.R. midpipe ?s

I've got a stock 03 5spd and was thinking about adding an off road H or X pipe while keeping the stock cat back system. I do like the sound of the factory exhaust but do wish it was a little louder. My question is, can you feel any difference in power with just an off road pipe? Also, can anyone recomend a particular brand? I'm aware that I'll need mil eliminators and Ive already made up my mind to go catless rather than high flow cats. Thanks in advance, Jim

Re: O.R. midpipe ?s

Most people will probably tell you to go with an o/r Prochamber from MAC. I believe (from what Ive been reading) you might feel just a TINY bit of a difference but that's probably the throttle response that feels different cuz I know when I had my exhaust done on my V6 the throttle response was a little snappier.

Id make sure to go with anything that's stainless steel. So maybe check with Magnaflow, SLP, Bassani, MRT, ummmmm *head goes blank* thats all I can think of at this moment.

Re: O.R. midpipe ?s

Thanks for the responses and the link. Does anybody know if anyone makes an off road H pipe in stainless? It's hard for me to tell from a sound clip on the computer, but I think the H pipe is more the sound I'm looking for. Like I said, I like the sound of the factory exhaust, just wish it was a bit louder. So do you think on a stock Mach, that an off road midpipe is more for sound and not really hp ? Thanks, Jim

MRT makes a stainless steel h-pipe. You can also get the prochamber in stainless steel at lmperformance.com or partshopper.com where it was $359 for the stainless steel off road prochamber.

Re: O.R. midpipe ?s

I have a MAC O/R H-Pipe.
I love it! Works great with the mach
cat-back. Not to loud if you dont want it to be.
@ WOT it sounds sweet. Do you drive in the winter?
Why do you have to have stainless? I have had mine on
for over 2 years no problems with rusting..
MAC is a good deal . Under $150 to your door off E-bay.
I noticd a Huge diff. when I was getting on the feeway!

Re: O.R. midpipe ?s

I had an UPR off-road x-pipe on my car for a while with the stock catback. It did not stay on long, I did not like the smell or the raspy sound. I found the combination I was looking for.....see signature.

MRT H-Pipe rocks! I'd have put it in my car if it came as a shorty (getting long tubes)

It gets considerably louder, but not too loud. I had the max thunder catback with the MRT midpipe and it was too loud for me. The mid pipe will wake any catback up.

Re: O.R. midpipe ?s

your best bet is to add the O\R H-pipe first then see if you like em besfor you go buy a catback. our cars have a better cat-back then a GT's...
