Mach starting to creek

I have a 03 mach with 21,000 miles I noticed lately that it is starting to make some irritating squeeks in the rear when I go over speed bumps. Any of you notice anything like this?Im going to check the shock bolts and bushings but it sounds like its coming from in the car. Do you think a rear panel could be loose? Thanks

Your car is just aging. Put on louder exhaust and you won't notice it.

Mine does it too.. Believe it is the bushings on mine, they looked pretty worn, but it is a common Mustang sound.

Re: Mach starting to creek

Some of the creaking is probably caused by the body and chassis flexing. When I got my full length subframe connectors welded in, it made a remarkable difference in the quietness of the car's body and chassis. It is quieter now, at 50,000 miles, than it was when it had 10,000 miles on it. The creaking may be something else, but subframes are a great way to prevent or slow the spread of noises from a Mustang chassis or body.

I had the problem up front with the polyurethane bushings, but I purchased the metal penatrating spray from Amezoil, now squeak free!

Re: Mach starting to creek

Probably the rear control arm bushings... Those went on my '96 V6 and the squeaking was horrible when I went over speedbumps!

Re: Mach starting to creek

Do a search on "broken spot welds" - Several people have had broken/non-existent ones between the rear fenderwell and the package tray or rear seat support.

Wow, that must really be creaking. Maybe the loud exhaust shook the welds loose.

Re: Mach starting to creek

Are any of your suspension components aftermarket? Heim joints or polyurethane bushings can squeek......or it could just be your particular car.

Re: Mach starting to creek

Mine had improperly torqued SFC bolts. There seems like a million reasons why these things get squeaky.

I have a 69 cougar that has less squeeks.I still love my mach though, even if it rattles like a broken hinge. Im going to change the oil in a bit so it will give me a chance to look under the car. If nothing turns up Ill inspect the pass panel as mentioned earlyer.

Re: Mach starting to creek

Mine started that last fall / winter (such that it is in FL). I figured it was the cold weather squeeks. They haven't gone away. Now when ever someone gets in / out of the car it squeeks. More so if it's on an incline with the rear higher.

4.5 years and 70k+ miles...I guess its entitled.

Re: Mach starting to creek

I looked under the car in the problem areas as noted, I did not see any broken welds. Now I just have to look under the rear seats.

Re: Mach starting to creek

Thats crazy that you can hear that over the SLP system. In the Mach's defense, normal creeks are going to occur. It wasn't built to be a comfort cruiser. It was meant to haul *** in a straight line. I actually expected mine to creek and rattle more than it does.
