Re: Best Octane Booster

I'll be using Torco mixed with 93 octane. I'm not going to spend $7.99 a gallon for race fuel on a street car.

Re: Best Octane Booster

One thing to remember about octane boosters. When they say they raise octane "5 points", it's really only 0.5 Octane Points as you would measure at the pump.

Most octane boosters are borderline snake oil....

If you have no access to racing unleaded fuel, purchase the Torco Racing Fuels Mach series Accelerator unleaded fuel concentrate. I use a 5 gal fuel container for my mix to be precise.

One can is 32 oz which mixed with 10 gals of 93 octane will give 104 octane.
I mix 14 oz with 5 gal of Cam II 100 unleaded to get 104+. They will give you the exact ratio mix if you contact them on their website.

Tell them the Col sent ya! Wild Bill was the one that turned me on to this stuff and it's good stuff with nitrous.

Re: Best Octane Booster

Those torco numbers are slightly misleading, 1 can with 10 gallons of 93 really makes around 98 octane.

How do you know this? I would like to know how you tested the fuel, thanks!

Re: Best Octane Booster

Torco is the only stuff that works.

If you are mixing certain race fuels, make sure you know their stoich value so you can tune for this and make sure once the tune is done you keep using the same fuel. C16 has the same stoich as pump gas so they mix well. But like 104-109 unleaded has a different stoich I believe depending on the brand of fuel.

Actually if your car is tuned on E10, most unleaded race fuel is avery similar stoic. I don't know about the rest of you, but that's about all I can get now.

Re: Best Octane Booster

pump gas is 14.64:1, E10 pump gas (10% ethanol) it is 14.19:1. E85 is 9.85:1

I looked for stoic numbers for various race gas and I couldn't find it. I know I've seen it before and 104 unleaded was in the high 13s somewhere.

Until E85 is common, I'm gonna just keep my car tuned/built for 93 octane.

Re: Best Octane Booster

I decided that I will be running Sunoco GT Plus (Cam II when sold at other fuel stations) which is unleaded 104 race fuel. I've been in contact with Russ Bradford distributor sales manager of Bazell Race Fuel. They are in Logan, Ohio and are the biggest Sunoco race fuel distributors in the country.

I will be ordering/picking up a 55 gal drum of GT Plus in March. This is cheaper then buyin GT 100 unleaded fuel at $4.89 gal + 1 bottle of Torco to every 10 gals to get 104. I don't like the brownish coloring that happens from fuel additives. It makes it hard to read the porcelain on the plug for signs of peppering when injecting nitrous. The Sunoco unleaded 104 has a higher oxygen % then the unleaded 100.

The fuel is always fresh because they move/sell so much of the fuel from their under ground tanks. The drums are not filled until you order from them. Russ advised once in the drum and kept sealed, average storage life of this fuel is up to 2 yrs. I don't like getting the fuel from a gas station where very little race fuel is sold. The fuel stays in the tank a long time.
