Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

I'm looking for a cat-back, but am not sure what to do. I have heard the Borla's are too loud, and the Magnaflow's are too quiet. I'm looking for a good sounding cat-back, but need something that is somewhat tame on the highway, and isn't droning. How are the Borla's at highway speeds, any droning sounds, or are they pretty quiet just cruising? I also found the Magnaflow's for $330 shipped brand new, which seems like a steal and is hard to pass up. Ugh, I dont know what to do!

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

would you be adding/or are you running an aftermarket mid-pipe? is your car auto or 5spd? in my case, i had Stingers w/ an O/R X and at 65mph i was at 2500rpm(auto)and my exhaust was insanely LOUD and unbearable...couldnt carry on a conversation,etc...i couldnt stand it honestly, but then i added Longtubes, and an O/R Prochamber and problem was solved...im guessing it was the prochamber, dunno....btw i have a GT...so i'll the the mach guys chime in.

Borlas are fine until you change the mid-pipe.

In that case, go with the Borla's. That's the setup I have right now, and it sounds sweeeeeet. If you go with an o/r x or h, it will be too loud, at least for my ears, and all my neighbors!

I have the Borla Stingers on there and it's just about perfect. I wanna throw the O/R H-Pipe I have in the corner on there, but from all that I've heard -- its just not worth the time.

I have the stingers with a catted bbk x (2 factory cats welded in) its pretty loud but at highway speeds in 5th with the windows up you can have a conversation without raising your voice at all, and if you have the ac/heat on past 2 you cant hear the exhaust. I love the sound of the stingers but right now for me it’s just a little to quiet and I will be swapping out the x for a o/r prochamber.

I have the Borla Stinger cat-back with the rest of the exhaust being stock, and it's great on the highway. As said above, you can carry on a normal conversation at highway speed with no problems. I've only found a slight drone at 92 mph in 5th....

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

this wont help you as much cause this is with a O/R prochamber so assume that its a little quieter with stock catted mid pipe. This is with the magnapacks. I chose those only cause the backpressure sound from borlas often referred to as the "Borla Burble" annoyed me....

Some like it. I didnt. This first video gives you a good driving video of in car sound with the packs but unfortunately a changed mid pipe ***scroll to half way through for driving video***

I have the MRT O/R h-pipe & Stingers and it's very loud, but I like it. Stingers by themselves sound nice and deep and not obnoxiously loud IMO.

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

i had magnapacks with a stock midpipe and wanted to blow my brains out on the 10hour drive to NC, not friendly at all for long highway cruising

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

This is the hard thing about giving opinions on exhaust cause everyones view is so different. My best friend swears by borla and I swear by magnapacks. To each their own.

If possible try and hear a car local to you with those setups on them. There area lot of "dueling stang" videos on youtube and the like where you can hear multiple setups in one video from different stangs. Look for that.

Who knows in the end what you will like

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

Good thread b/c I just bought the Borlas, rest will be stock. They're not on yet so I've been wondering, too. I've heard them and I liked them in person, but people said OHH, that will be loud! I didn't think they were. I'll have more to say about it soon. Time to get them on and stop wondering!

Magnaflows are good also, and SSS. I've been around the exhaust clips thread and you can probably find all of these there, TONS of stuff. Good luck. All good choices.

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

I'm also for the Stingers. I drove mine on a 12 hour drive and could carry on a conversation and enjoyed every minute of it. That was when I had the stock mid pipe.

When I had the longtubes installed and changed the midpipe it was loud all around especially when stepping on it. After I got it tuned, I didn't have the burble on decel like I had after the longtubes were put on. Now it seemed to deepen back up, but it is absolutely louder than when I had the stock mid pipe in.

The best way to choose would be to listen in person, or search online for a ton of sound clips.

Re: Daily Driver: Stingers or Magnaflow?

honestly for any mustang borla is the best imho. they have such a nice tone that no other system has. when you hear borla in person its like music to the ears. if i your the chambered muffler type of guy like me mac is also great but you'll need an aftermarket midpipe otherwise its really quiet almsot like stock.
