Procharger@8lbs Mod list?

Alright guys, I did a search and looked through the Procharger thread, but I have some questions. I have a friend who is going to be putting a D1SC on his 03 Mach 1 and we're trying to put together a comprehensive list of what mods are necessary. So far I have:

The D1SC kit itself
39lb injectors
NGK TR6 plugs
An SCT2400 MAF or a MAFia
and a Tune

Where I'm a little confused is on the fuel system. Can you run the stock pump with a KB BAP, or do you need a focus or aviator pump? Also, is anything else missing off the list? Thanks everyone!

Re: Procharger@8lbs Mod list?

39# injectors are good up to 500whp. after that he will need new internals. also a wideband is a good idea. svt cobra/focus pumps are good choices.

Just a thought here, I noticed your from the OC. While P1s have a CARB EO, D1s don't.

Re: Procharger@8lbs Mod list?

i get a focus fuel pump with a KB BAP
if your running low boost or hp level the 39lbs will work, you could do the 60lbs but 42lbs would work great too.

Ugh, I hadn't considered that. We could get it smogged, but that's a real bummer. I wonder why the D1SC isn't CARB legal?

Is the CARB number stamped on the plate attached to the top of the blower? If not where is it located and how is it located?

yea on the plate ontop of the head unit where it says what model and serial number of the head unit it has a CARB # to show that it is CARB legal and u can actually pass smog with it.. P1's are the only prochargers that are smog legal in CA, D1's and such you will have to get a "special smog" if u can..

OP i think since u want 8lbs a p1 would be a good choice and i mean u can always upgrade to a D1 later if u build the bottem end for i think it was 1k more?

Yeah, I can do a "special smog" but I really do not want to have to deal with that issue. A P1 would work until I build up the engine, which am planning on doing in about 5 more years, but then I would have to deal with the issue of the D1 later anyway and my ultimate goal is a street legal 500+ HP Pony. This CARB issue has me second guessing the D1.

I am with you except I live in the tree hugging state or California. I am carefully planning out my car so that I do not waste money. Too many people do that.

In case you all had not figured it out I am SeanPlunk's friend referenced in the OP.

Re: Procharger@8lbs Mod list?

ok i get what your saying, i just know from what guys have told me that they go ahead and spend the extra 450 for the upgraded headunit and down the road when they want to switch the cost is like a grand to do it, just tryin to save you some money. but i understand if you have prob with a inspection type thing, i'm down in Texas and i really don't worry bout that stuff, or should i say i'm fixin to be moving back down there and that is why i run a o/r h-pipe also and also fixin to put single chamber flows on too. smog wouldn't be my friend

How is the plate held on? Some type of adhesive or rivets?

and yea CARB emissions in CA are getting pretty outragous.. just had a friend get pulled over by a DOT cop and has his car unuseable due to his o/r prochamber and exhaust..had to return the whole thing back to stock and show it to a smog ref. i do hate living in california sometimes =(

Is this Sean from Motorgen?

I'm running a D1SC on a built mach block. I've got the cobra tank and pumps, KB 40 amp BAP, larger fuel lines, and Fore rails.

I just had to go to a special smog station a few months ago...but I passed.

That'd be me.

I would just say this: Better safe than sorry. It's not "likely" that you'll run into any problems with it, but it's definately "possible". And if you run into problems like I have, you're going to end up having to get the P1 anyway, or taking it all off and going back to stock.

**** CA sometimes. And they don't even GAS about emmisions... My car now passes that with flying colors, but fails in other areas. Like noise. It's 20 Db too loud so I have failed twice now.

Just a heads up for ya. The wrong cop or smog station can RUIN YOUR LIFE!

Tell me more about the Special Smog Station. Sean and I were talking and my interest in the D1-SC has been renewed. Did the special smog cost you more? Were you close to not passing? I remember your car from our Dyno day about a year and a half ago. Love you car.

I actually blew the engine since that last dyno...I don't think my tuner was doing too well on his custom tunes. I've switched over to RET and it's running waaaay better on the new block now.

The special smog station costs more, but I figure it was only once every two years. I wasn't close to passing, but I'm running aftermarket headers and mid pipe too.

Some of the people on SVTperformance were saying they were passing with KB and Whipples and aftermarket exhausts, but I haven't tried any where else. I didn't want to just go to a smog station and then fail and have everything reported to the DMV.
