Not sure why they'd do a twin turbo instead of a single turbo. Less parts to break/warranty with a single.

Didn't ford say that there isn't enough room in the engine bay for a twin.

Plenty of room under the car and with that set up you do not need a intercooler

I thought due to the location of the turbos in the exhaust you didnt need one cause the air would cool down enought with the distance it had to return to the motor ........ However since i am willing to admit I am no expert on this subject I will digress to the Col.

But my friends let me share with you of a dream i had long ago.... It was a real dream.....

I was rolling in my car it had a knob on the dash that was connected to a varible wastegate so you could dial in the correct amount of boost needed at any given time.......( yes this was all in my dream while i was sleeping)

wierd huh but really I would love a single turbo mustang GT. ( V-8 )
none of that v-6 crap

November 2009. 6 months old.

However, I agree. Ford needs to ditch the SC and through a turbo coyote in the shelby.

I'd be surprised to see them under the car. Too much potential damage and the further from the motor, the more lag there will be. But at least the engine bay would stay cooler.

It would be interesting to see Ford go this route. If they do I hope they use a block that's ready for the power the tuners will pull out of those turbos!

Considering their track record with boosted v8s I dont see why they wouldnt.

Re: 2014 Shelby GT500 going 5.0 with alittle somethin somethin....

Quote:
Unlike the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that’s scheduled to arrive in late 2010 for the F-150, the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 won’t use direct injection or turbocharging. It’s a naturally aspirated motor with fuel economy that’s expected to be comparable to the current 5.4-liter V-8. It's also expected to use a cast aluminum engine block instead of iron, to help save weight.

Interestingly, the 5.0-liter V-8 is said to produce power levels that are in the same neighborhood as the larger 6.2-liter V-8 that arrives in the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor in February and the 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine.

Of course, our sources tell us that Ford is already working on a version of the Coyote V-8 that will separate itself from the rest of the future V-8 engine lineup. In cartoons, the Coyote is only beat by a Road Runner. Look for a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-8, code-named "Road Runner," with well over 500-horsepower to debut first in the Mustang GT500 in 2012 and possibly, in F-150 Harley-Davidson edition pickups.
