A sad topic =(
so...i was at a friends house watching a New Orleans Saints victory...sorry..had to say that to cheer myself up...and while at their house..evidentially someone in a truck backed out their drive way across the street and tapped my car on the driver side scoop leaving a crease/dent in the rear quarter panel w/o actually chipping the paint but did leave a few paint crack lines at the top of the crease....
so what are my options to have this fixed w/o claiming it on insurance? Dent Doctor to pop it out..if possible? a body shop to replace the panel? live with it? and if replacing the panel is an option...anyone have a price on what this would cost and if it is doable by myself? i do work for the pipe shop in an oil field company and it may be possible to cut spot welds out and re tack them up if this is how it is held there? any help would be appreciated if anyone has dealt with this or knows about this type of situation...will upload a pic as soon as i can for a better understanding pics added

Re: A sad topic =(
Best bet would be bring it to the paintless dent removal and see what they can do. If they can get the dent out and you are satisfied with the look and can live with the paint crack lines then you are good to go.
Pulling whole panel off would not even be an option, it is possible but the time and effort you would have to put into it, its not a weekend project for a novice, and with that I doubt someone not familiar with bodywork could even do it. More than likely they will have to re-paint the whole side of the car. For the acctual repair they will either pull the dent and get it all looking new again or they will cut out the dented area and replace with a patch panel off of a junked car. |

Re: A sad topic =(
Thats pretty ugly! I would get a qoute and see if you would be better to pay for it or go thru your insurance. Since you were not at fault it should not effect your insurance. If it is more cost effective talk to your agent prior to actually making a claim.

Re: A sad topic =(
from the look of it...iam not sure a dent wizard is going to pull that out. especially because if runs into a body line.
it isnt that hard of repair..dsg (dark shadow gray) isnt a hard color to match either.

Re: A sad topic =(
Just wait to the 28th to get it fixed. That way you have something to take your mind off the Saints getting smacked by the Falcons for the second time this year.

Re: A sad topic =(
Why not claim it on insurance? Uninsured motorous would cover it and not go on your record if you have it. I'd find out who was over there and hit my car and go after them. Just claim it get it fixed and be done with it.
