245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

Hey guys! Im in need of new tires. Running 274/40/17 up front and 315's out back. Car is lowered a lot. I need new tires and the 275's are rubbing and track the road too much. I want to keep the same diameter tire and was wondering how well our oem size tire a 245/45/17 fits on 17x9 wheel? I have
FR500's. I don't want the tire to bulge out. Some sites say it will fit. But you guys know better. Any pics also? Thanks everyone...

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

The tire would probably "stretch" a little bit. I run stock 245s up front on stock wheels, if it was an inch wider, I know it would pull the tire a bit. Im sure it will work fine, but might not look awsome.

your talking about taking off 275s and putting on 245s on a 9 inch wheel right?

A friend of mine was having the same problem with the 275s up front, he went to a 255. As far as I know he hasnt had any problems.

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

Are you slammed or something? How are 275s rubbing anywhere?

Anyway 245s fit perfect on a 9" wide wheel. My friend was running that setup for a while and it's not anywhere near "stretched" looking. If anything it's a better tire/wheel width ratio than 275s are. 9" is as narrow as you should go for a 275.

I did that awhile ago and it looks like doo doo. The sidewall is too stretched for my taste.

I've got them on right now and I agree. I bought some Cobra R's 17x9 with 245/45. It looks like the sidewall is sucked in a bit. I will go with a larger tire(275) once these are shot.

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

X5 on the 255/40 they seem to look the best on a 9" wheel to me, 245's are a hair to narrow (depends on brand of tire) i have 275/40's up front on mine nad i dont care for the way they look to tall IMO.

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

Thanks guys for the help. I was looking at the 255/40/17. The only thing is the 255 if you look overall circumference and diameter is almost 2 inches less than that of a 245 or 275. Which means I will have a much bigger wheel gap. Even though my car is lowered. So not sure what to do. Might just have to stick with 275's anyway.. Here's the link to the tire size calculator.

The 255/40's are barely half an inch shorter man, you figured something wrong.

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

How could anyone be having a problem with 275s up front?

Right now I have 245/45/17 Nitto 555s all the way around. The ONLY reason they are on the car is because they came with it when I bought it. They fit fine, but they dont look good lol. They are certainly crap for traction too. Granted im making way more power than they can handle, but they still wouldnt be great even with stock power.

Ill be getting some 315/30/r18 Toyo Proxes R888s for my 18x10 wheels soon and Ill have 275/35/18s up front on an 18x9 wheel. Cant wait!

Fixt.

17's and 18's are a whole different story. 18x9 needs a 265 min, IMO.

Re: 245/45/17 how well does it fit 17x9?

i had 275/35/18's up front and they rubbed.

now im running 255/45/18's.

(i did not remove them for the rubbing as it is completely inaudible)

i found out they were rubbing when i took the wheel off.

i would run them again. but i need a taller tire out front.

EDIT: i would not go any smaller then a 255 on a 9inch rim. the rim sticks out ALOT even with 255's.
