Smoked tails?

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on smoked tails. I don't want them blacked but still pretty dark. I was looking at americanmuscle.com and wanted to know if anyone had those. Any pics or input would help out a lot.

Thanks,
Zac

Re: Smoked tails?

I bought mine at americanmuscle, I love them. No problems and they fit perfect. Sorry for the bad pics, I just snapped a couple in the driveway.

Re: Smoked tails?

also with the night shade you can spray a coat and see how it turns out and then if you want darker just spray on another coat

Re: Smoked tails?

I recently installed the Raxiom smoked tail lights: http://www.americanmuscle.com/tailli...04-smoked.html

Looks pretty good. However, fitment, at least in my case, is not perfect. There is a small gap on the driver side (see the second image).

Where can you by night shade? Also, is there any prep work you need to do first or just clean lens real good and spray?

what do you mean, putting it on,

just like painting something with a spray can, just clean the surface and spray light coats on it, i would let it dry over night once you get done with em in a dry climate place (like in your house) and then re install

i bought the can at a parts place like auto zone, they had it there, doesn't cost very much at all, like the price of a spray can and you should have some left over, i've done a buddies fog lights and still have alot left to use on future stuff

Re: Smoked tails?

The pic of my car is the Old Tail Lights. It is done with the VHT Tail Light Tint spray can. It looks pretty decent, but its not as smooth or as clean looking as i would like it. But that could be the fault of bad prep work from whoever did it.

The other pic is on the New Tail Lights. These are OEM tail lights that i cleaned up, wet sanded and had sprayed with a Candy Black and Clear mix. These are with two coats of it. Looks Killer. And the light goes through the lenses great. I will add pics of them on the car whenever i get the car back...

Its true, both will work just fine. Its all in what you want and what kind of results you want. Im sure that if I did my original tail lights and took the time to prep them right, they wouldnt have looked as bad as they did. Which in reality, they dont look bad at all. Matter of fact, they went from my car straight on my brother's 03 GT. But the Candy Paint and clear is much cleaner looking. Its all personal taste i guess. But I only have 30 bucks invested in my Candy Tinted Tail Lights. And a little bit of elbow grease......

i just didnt see the point in buyin from AM, i did buy a set that were painted and man you couldnt see my tails when i break during the day and wasnt really any better during night, it was truly unsafe, so that is where i found someone used night shade and i went and got it, did mine and they came out great, also did a buddies fog lights on his 06 roush, we need to do another coat on his, but they came out really nice for how many coat where one em, but for me im very happy with my tails, i thought they came out really good.

Re: Smoked tails?

always liked tinted tails, just dont go to dark that you will get rear ended. or that a cop will have a readon to pull you over. depending on where you live that may not matter.
