Gas to shoot up by 60 cents by May

It's a darn good thing we aren't building that pipeline.
Be sure to remember this in November, for some reason.................

LINK

"Get ready for another round of pain at the pump: $4 (or higher) gasoline.

After rising 19 cents a gallon in the past four weeks,
regular unleaded gasoline now averages $3.48 a gallon,
vs. $3.12 a year ago and $2.67 in February 2010.

Prices could spike another 60 cents or more by May.
"I think it's going to be a chaotic spring,
with huge price increases in some places," says Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service.
Kloza expects average prices to peak at $4.05,
although he and other industry trackers say prices could be sharply higher in some markets."

More on the link above..............
"But where are the jobs....?"

No pipe-line, and our gas prices are set to go up too - 20 cents a litre.

That pipeline is needed to get the oil to the refinery, so that they can refine some gas and bring it back up here!

And who's going to refine the oil? Both Sunoco and Arco, are shuttering refinieries outside of Philadelphia that have been in operation for decades, claiming they can't make money off them, BS! We already have a pipeline that sends oil down to the lower 48 from Alaska, but we don't get to keep the oil here, it gets shipped off to Asia! In the past year and a half, the United States has become a net EXPORTER of refined gasoline and jet fuel! That means we have more than we can use, yet the price continues to go up! It ain't the President screwing you, it's the big oil corporations, who by the way, are people too, so we should continue to give them huge ****ing tax breaks!

Yeah. They just announced on Fox that the Canadian Prime Minister flew to China today to see if they want to by the oil rights that Obama said 'no' to. Ain't that just great?

Re: Gas to shoot up by 60 cents by May

Well I hope it doesn't shoot up too much by mid March. I'm set to drive my 1986 grand marquis down to Ft. Lauderdale and back (about 2200 miles round trip). I'm estimating about 15mpg highway avg. fully loaded with 4 people and luggage. At least gas will be split 4 ways and any way you slice its it's cheaper than flying.

Yes it is, and the EPA and union costs is basically closing the Pa plant.
Keep printing money and it dillutes the value of the dollar.
Think of it this way,
you need more kool aid, so keep adding water.

I hope it doesn't happen as we are already over $5.00 a gallon and to put in prospective our dollar is at par with your dollar .

lol its already to the point where if I go anywhere over 100 miles I rent a car....It's literally cheaper to rent something like a Ford Fusion than put gas in my truck that averages around 12-14mpg lol This will only make my choice that much easier!

Re: Gas to shoot up by 60 cents by May

Yes, the US dollar has plummeted since, oh, let's say November 2008.
Remember, that is when gas was 1.60 a gallon.
US dollar was 65 cents to the Aussie dollar, now they are about even.
That is a value loss of 50%.
November.........................

Re: Gas to shoot up by 60 cents by May

And what can a man that makes $21 mil a yr do for me? Whats $4 a gal to him?

I may for the first time in my life, simply not vote. The 'great one', the 'long legged mack daddy' hasnt done anything. And whats running against him doesnt seem much better.

And then to vote 'no' on the pipeline? WTF!!! I know Nobama voted against it but we have a Republican controlled house and senate, SO WTF!!!

We dont have a dem or rep problem in this country, we have a govt problem. They are all in it together, they are all getting paid, and if the truth be known, china probably paid Obama to say no. Oh, yea, I think the other countries are in on it too.

**** em. If it goes up .60 then it just goes up. They ll still only get it $20 at a time if I have to stop everyday.

I've lived thru the Jimmy Carter disaster, the 80's savings and loan collapse etc. Never seen it take this long to recover. The signs are undeniable. Huge deficit, Russia and china growing stronger, energy supplies manipulated by our own government and another war in middle east looming. Another president is a step in the right direction. But this country is too divided to come together and solve it all. I think we're swirling in the bowl. As the great Jim Morrison once said " I wanna get my kicks before the whole **** house goes up in flames".

And yet the price of oil dropped below $100 a barrel for the first time in ages while the price per gallon of gas climbs. It's those speculators who are killing us by driving up prices They control the price we pay not the crude oil countries or supplies or reserves.

Re: Gas to shoot up by 60 cents by May

Got this in an email yesterday.

Subject: FW: Valero's Keystone XL Pipeline Statement

Pass this along, maybe we can get the whole country to understand...

Date: January 24, 2012
To: Valero Employees
From: Bill Klesse
Subject: Keystone XL Pipeline Statement
As you know, the Obama administration decided last week to deny TransCanada's application to ship crude oil via the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast. Valero has planned to be a shipper and purchaser of that oil since 2008, and obviously we were disappointed in the decision. We issued a statement in response to questions from the media, and I wanted to share it with you in case you get questions from friends or business partners, and so that you would know why Valero supports the Keystone XL pipeline. This is the statement:
Despite the uncertainty and political fighting over the Keystone XL pipeline, Valero has continued to invest in its U.S. refining operation. In 2011 we spent nearly $3 billion on projects, and for 2012 our capital expenditure budget is over $3 billion. These expenditures are keeping our employees on the job and putting additional people to work. To reference two of our refineries, at Port Arthur, Texas, we have 1,600 contractors working on an expansion project, and at St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, we have another 1,000 contractors working on a separate project. We need this kind of economic activity to accelerate to help all Americans.
This illustrates why the federal government's rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline is so absurd. There are pipelines in every neighborhood all across America. The administration's decision was not about pipelines, it was about the misguided beliefs that Canadian oil sands development should be stopped and that fossil fuel prices should increase to make alternative energy more attractive. Instead, we should be impressed with how well the oil sands engineering and recovery technology has advanced, and the economic benefits this development brings. Having more oil available in the marketplace has the potential to lower prices for consumers. As an independent refiner, Valero buys all of the oil we process. Due to the administration's misguided policies, refiners like Valero will have to buy more oil from other sources outside the U.S. and Canada. Consumers will bear the additional shipping cost, not to mention the additional greenhouse gas emissions and political risks.
With all the issues facing our country, it is absolutely unbelievable our federal government says no to a company like TransCanada that is willing to spend over $7 billion and put Americans to work on a pipeline. The administration's decision throws dirt into the face of our closest ally and largest trading partner.

The point above is that it is not about pipelines as many pipelines cross the Ogallala Aquifer, in the Great Plains region, and, in fact, there is already significant oil and gas production in the area covered by the aquifer. This is politics at its worst.

Thanks for your support.
