2015 Mustang

Well about an hour ago, Car&Driver released what they said to be almost definitely the 2015 Mustang. I like it, but still need to see it in the flesh!

Re: 2015 Mustang

Seriously underwhelmed, but not surprised. Side profile is a bit more styled then the current car, rear is indistinguishable form a 14 to most folks, and front isn't much to talk about.

According to the article all carry over engines too? That I don't buy for a second, or else what an anti-climatic premier.

Re: 2015 Mustang

Another reason to keep the Mach 1. The cabin profile looks way too high on the side profile for me.

2015 Mustang

That ones still too much like the s197 to me. It's not a bad looking car for sure. If that's indeed "it", then I would like to see a slightly different look in the rear shape. That's too much like the one now. A little bit bigger rear spoiler would be good. And I think they should ditch the hood vents. Again, still to close to the current design. It would be cool if they had an s197 next to it to see how it compares in size. The s197 is just too big IMO. And I agree, no way they will have that stance off the production line.

*edit* ^thats in response to the car and driver version.

Re: 2015 Mustang

for so much hype on the next car I kinda hope they do something to differentiate the rear end more, if youre gonna go a new direction then lets go.

Ive read several times this car will be smaller than the current car

Yup, I agree. There was a ton of buzz early on that it would be a "radical" change. Nothing I've seen so far seems radically different to me.

Re: 2015 Mustang

John Clor told me at Carlisle back in June that the first "radical" models (i.e. EVO) that the media was speculating on were written off by the higher ups at Ford and they were told to make it more classic and closer to the present Mustang.

At that point they were back to square one and concerned about not having enough new models for the April 2014 introduction. Supposedly the media either just saw or will be soon seeing the 2015 Mustang so they will have their 3-month lead time for publication in magazines.

Re: 2015 Mustang

Looks like a Focus ST and a 2014 Mustang had a baby.

It will be interesting to see how it looks with a few mods. Those pics don't look mean to me.

I don't understand what they are saying about the engine options. So it will have the same 3.7 and 5.0. And then the 2.3 turbo. But they are doing a late release of a 500hp 5.0? Is that supposed to be the 5.0 Hi-Po?

Re: 2015 Mustang

It seems to say at whatever premier it's at, it will be shown with the 3.7 and 5.0.

Then monthes after those cars roll down the assembly line, an updated 3.7, 5.0, and new 2.3 will be swapped in.

Yeah, sure that's what they'll do. Here's a new car, but in 6 monthes, we're upgrading the engines. Enjoy!...

Re: 2015 Mustang

Glad I decided to invest into rebuilding the Mach.

The front is just too dang tall, looks like a truck. Something a bit more sleek in the front is what I was hoping for and the rear more refined. Maybe for the mid-model renew they will fix it like they did in 2010.

More time to enjoy the Mach.

I was thinking that too. Then I though maybe they could slope the hood and front end down some, but it looks like the way it's built, the engine wouldn't let you do that. It's a shame because I was really hoping for a more sporty front end that was just slightly in the traditional Mustang cues. I was really hoping for the radical change they mentioned early on.

Says the car should go from 3500lb down to 3300. That I like.

What are they doing for a motor/trans setup? Still the 5.0?

I heard at first they were carrying over the current 5.0 and 3.7 with plans on a late 2015 change. Don't know if that's legit though, just rumors.

They look like Colbalt SS rims.

I actually like the new body style. From the front fenders back. The front end doesn't look intimidating enough.

The existing 5.0 and V6, along with a turbo 2.3 for now. There is continuing rumors of a flat crank 5.0 for the high performance, like the GT-350, probably turbocharged as well.
