Maximum rpm?
Anybody know what the maximum rpm is for a stock short block? I'm thinking about changing computers and adding a fr500 intake and would like to know if 7500 + was possible?

Re: Maximum rpm?
I was under the impression you needed valvetrain upgrades to go over ~7,200.

Re: Maximum rpm?
I know of two people spinning stock bottom ends to 7500. The stock trans doesn't like to shift there though.
he asked only about the shortblock so it's safe to assume he has or will upgrade the springs.

Re: Maximum rpm?
I turn 7400, but I wouldn't want to do it too long.
My goal is to build a new m-6010-boss50 block.... Before this one spits out a rod

Re: Maximum rpm?
I did, but with the stock mach ecu.
The rpms increased, but there was a problem with spark beyond 6800. My rwhp & tq never changed The tuner just wasted my time and money.... He didn't want to use the 01'cobra ecu.

Re: Maximum rpm?
So there is no gain to spin up to 7400rpm with a stock mach ecu, but with a 01 cobra ecu it would?

Re: Maximum rpm?
I have an 99 cobra ecu that I am working on as we speak. Is a little more time consuming than I hope getting all my tune info into this thing as many of the tables are a bit different. I will let you guys know when I get it running and what the result in rpm is. Fingers crossed.

Re: Maximum rpm?
Did you have to change any wiring or is it plug and play (other then the tune)?

Re: Maximum rpm?
Tune was a pain for me but Im an amateur tuner. There are quite a few tables that are different so its not exactly a copy and paste.
I was told only one wire had to be lengthened and moved. The low side fan switch. Unfortunately I will need to investigate that further as the fan is on low all the time. I will let you know what I figure out. ECU is actually a CHH2 from an auto GT but uses the same strategy as the 99 cobra MSE3. wiring change was Dark blue from pin 28 to pin 19. |

If you used a different ECU, which one are the better option to use on the Mach 1? My car suffer sometimes the computer gremlins at high RPM |

Re: Maximum rpm?
CHH2 or MSE3. Same strategy for what I told. Get a hold of Josh Levin (JL.Motor)On corral (JL.tunning) on the registry he can hook you up. I know I probably bugged the hell out of him but helped me get it tuned.
Only rewiring was lengthened one wire and changed pin location. |

Re: Maximum rpm?
Is adding the cobra ECU still the only way to get more then 7200. You think a tuner like John Lund can tune the MAch 1 for maximum RPM

Re: Maximum rpm?
I've spun mine to 7500 many of times when at the track. The trans doesn't like it. But then again my transmission sounds like *** anyways.

Re: Maximum rpm?
Most machs require a cobra ecu to make decent power above 7k.
The stick cams will not make power there and the valvesprings give up at 7200. |

Re: Maximum rpm?
I was just wondering if some Tuners where able to get more rpm out of the Mach ecu then others. Or is the cobra Ecu the only answer. What's involed with switching them
