I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

So a while back I was just goofing around on the laptop and decided to add my name to the lottery for the opportunity to purchase one of the only 69 2014 COPO Camaro's to be built. Never did I ever think I would get picked.

Well last night I got this in the mail:

Thank you for your COPO Camaro inquiry

Dear COPO Camaro Fan,

You are receiving this informational follow up because you recently expressed interest in buying one of the 69 COPO Camaros that the Chevrolet Performance team will be building for the 2014 race season.

We have had several thousand enthusiasts express interest in the 2014 COPO Camaro. A third party has randomly ranked the COPO Camaro Mailing List, and we are pleased to inform you that you are at the top of the COPO list.

If you want to buy a COPO Camaro, this is your chance. Please, remember that this opportunity to buy a COPO Camaro is non-transferrable.

For you to take advantage of this opportunity to purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro, we need to hear back from you within 48 hours of the receipt of this email.

(I Deleted their emails addresses)

Sincerely,

Your Chevrolet Performance Team

Disclosure
Neither this order, nor General Motors’ acceptance of this order, is binding on General Motors. Many factors can affect the production and availability of COPO, including but not limited to component availability, production capacity, market and weather conditions, labor problems, government regulations and other factors that may be beyond the control of GM. General Motors therefore must reserve the right to cancel or delay the production of any COPO Camaro in its sole discretion.

As you can see this is crazy money and there is no way I am buying one. Just wish there was some way to sell this to someone and make a little cash off of it, but is states nontransferable.

This will just remain a story for down the road for me to tell that I was one of only 69 people selected to have this opportunity. That is unless anyone has $100K they want to give me! LOL

Dang what an opportunity! Shame you can't sell it like the guy did on Fast n Loud. I haven't seen one for sale but would you be able to make any money if you were able to buy it and then sell it?

Re: I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

That same episode on Fast and Loud is what got me to add my name to the lottery.

I think the only way I could do this is if someone wanted the car, they bankroll the car and I give it to them for a small "commission". There is NO WAY I could afford this car, but wish I could as I am sure I could make 10k or more of its sale.

Oh well.

Re: I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

So installed the. C little by asking about how payment is arranged for these cars and below is the response I got this morning.

Hello Greg,

Let me try to explain the process. Once you determine your final content and we talk either Monday or Tuesday, I will send you a non-transferable purchase certificate. I will also send a package to your dealer of choice. Once you have the certificate, you will have 10 days to finalize the purchase arrangements with your dealer. You and your dealer will work together to create a purchase order and Bill of Sale that must be sent to me.

At that time, your COPO will be scheduled into the build process. All financial arrangements regarding deposits or payment schedules are between you and your dealer. My requirement is that the dealer confirm they have been paid in full prior to me releasing the COPO to you at our build center here in Michigan. I will explain all of this to the dealer when I contact them.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Curt

General Motors | Customer Care and Aftersales

Think I am going to bow out and let someone else enjoy this opportunity.

Re: I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

So it sounds like the deal is that you can't transfer the purchase order to someone else. But you COULD purchase the car and sell it afterwards. Unless I'm missing something, that's how it reads to me. I'm not sure what you would have to do to qualify for a loan that large (put it against a house?), but if you can secure the funds there is money to be made there. Could be a quick $20k in your pocket as I'm sure it wouldn't take much to sell.

Re: I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

That's just crazy money. It reminds me of those Super Snake's (a '67 body) they built about 7 years ago. Level 1 was $90K, Level 2 was $135K, and Level 3 I can't remember. They looked great, but the price was just nuts. Pretty cool you got lucky enough to be picked.

Time to hit up the camaro boards and see if theres someone out there with more money than they need. I wouldnt be greedy, a quick $5k-$10K and it would be gone.

How strange. I was just picked to buy the Narrows bridge. I have 24 hours to send an answer or they will

if its anything like the Cobra Jets the hp ratings and actual output appear completely unrelated...they put down far more from what Ive seen (again with the CJs)

Re: I Have Been Selected To Purchase a 2014 COPO Camaro!

Yeah aren't the cobra jet's and these like 8 and 9 second cars? You could put a 2.9whipple on a bone stock, old truck 4.8 and still near hit that 530hp.

Even so, and I know this can be a high stakes, money involve hobby, the prices are nuts. It's a crazy pay-to play-by-their-rules deal.

A camaro/mustang that can run 10's and handle decent could be had for far less. With the auto trans and 9"s though, these things are just completely optimised for drag racing.

These are 9 second cars and HP ratings don't tell the tale of the 1320!
