Son of Mach 1 ?
I saw this picture, and the first thing that came to my mind was, that looks an awful lot like the original picture of the 2003 Mach 1.

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
The steering wheel is on the wrong side and I see 2 door handles.
But the hood does have a cool bubble shape. |

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
To this day, I can not, for the life of me, understand why Ford has not brought this car to the states. At the very least to use the platform for Lincoln to compete with Cadillac. After the last 20 years or so, I have come to the conclusion that either those who have run Lincoln are grossly incompetent, or Ford just gives them absolutely no money at all for R&D.

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
Because Ford gave us the Taurus. They figured we're big, dumb Americans that all wanted more fuel efficient, more comfy boats.
Those V8's, supercharged V8's, and turbo inline6 that's god only knows how old(but still modernized)... powerful yes, but fuel effecient they are not. So we have entirely missed out on what seems like an incredible line up the last 10+ years. I'm largely a GM guy, but I'd probably take any XR6 turbo from 2002+ or any of the current Boss Falcons over any of the Holdens... which is ironic because I'm really considering a GTO 1st and formost as my next car. |

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
Not for long Falcon Production is ceasing in 2016? We get the Mustang but lose the 4 door sedan line up.

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
I don't know what Ford is thinking. Dropping the Falcon to sell the Mustang is one of the dumbest things they could do. The average Falcon buyer is not going to buy a Mustang, it doesn't have enough doors. They should bring the Falcon GT and Ute up here and sell the **** out of em. GM and Chrysler have nothing to compete in their classes. I'm afraid this one world concept with Europe being the basis for the design is going to hurt Ford in the long run. The Merkur and Contour were european design and they didn't last long at all.

Re: Son of Mach 1 ?
More interior space(have a 4yo boy), much better interior quality, 6.0/t56 arguably better engine/trans. Everywhere the Mach is lacking, the GTO excells... but everwhere the GTO is lacking the Mach excells which makes it hard.
I'm also considering an 05/06 C55 AMG. Cross shop ALL THE THINGS!! This isn't true though is it? Isn't the next generation production moving elsewhere, and then they are being shipped back in? That's what I thought I read. |
