Any personal experience with Vortech?

I am considering buying the Vortech kit for my Mach 1. Since this is such a big purchase for me I was wondering if anyone has any experience running Vortechs on their stangs? Could you please tell me what car and kind of Vortech you were using, and especially helpful is Mach 1 Vortech users, but any Vortech use is useful. It would be one a daily driver with 43,000 miles, never really abused, runs fine. Please provide info on:
1. any problems you had with the Vortech
2. model of Vortech and stang
3. how many miles you put on the Vortech (I'm looking for longevity, not something that will be cool for 15-20K miles then mess up).

Thanks so much in advance, as this is such a major purchase for me, any info helps.
P.S. I think I've read enough problem posts here and there for the procharger that I have ruled it out, I don't want to spend that much and have issues.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

If the company is as good as it was when I bought my blowers from them for my fox, you won't be disappointed.

I personally would not buy any other brand but Vortech for a centri-blower.

That is just me.

Had them for 7 years, beat the poop out of them, never a days problem.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

As far as I know, Vortec's require some perminate modifications. And if you break a belt you have to remove the headunit? I'm 100% happy with my Procharger, and boy was it easy to install!

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

I have a vortech T trim on my car and pretty happy with it so far. Go ahead and add a custom A/A intercooler when you install it. The kits are only $200-$250 on ebay.

Best advice I can give is don't put a supercharger on your car unless you can afford to rebuild the motor. Not saying anything will go wrong, but it is possible.

That's true about the belt. I thought the procharger for the mach was the same way though. I've removed my blower so many times I could change a belt in less than an hour.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

Vortech is still 1 of the best setups around and 1 of the best companies for blowers.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

I think i would get a Procharger ( even though the seals go bad sometimes )the install is better suited to the Mach than the Vortech.

I'm shocked! I've really never even considered a Vortech only because the Procharger has such a great 3 core intercooler. Should I rethink my descision?

Nope. Takes about 2 min to change the belt with a procharger.

I think both the P1 procharger, and the s trim vortech don't sound that great. The D1 procharger and T trim vortech sound awesome though.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

I just ordered a Vortech blower for my car. I could have bought any number of blowers and was even pushed toward a Procharger. But... I have dealet with Vortech for years and I have NEVER had any problems. They used to sponsor my race car back in the day.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

All my experince comes from stuff I have seen in person my car made 460 ran in the 10s. My buddys vortech cobra has like 40k no issues. No leaky head units no b.s. I think my car was also faster then 90% of the procharged mach1s if seen. It's not that I dislike procharger Iv just never been imprssed other then the f1s

You show me a vorteched mach that beats a procharged mach and I can show you a procharged mach that can beat a vorteched mach. Not a very good argument if you ask me. Come up with some hardcore numbers on the dyno with equivalent boost or even better yet have equivalently outfitted machs on track race and see, way too many variables.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

Compare my car to 90%of cars with prochargers my lil. Vortech did work. How many prochargers head units last more 10 k miles shut even 5k

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

I got around 10K on mine and its still working strong, I can't speak for all other prochargers but I've not had an issue. With 11 psig of boost and full weight I bet I'm real close to 11 flat in the quarter on a mild tune, take a little weight off and some gears and my lil Procharger will move also.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

You also have a d1 with an auto with cams. My stock motor s trim ran in the 10s with a 5 speed. Also with a stock driveline minus the rear. I'm not trying to come off like an ******* just people are very agaisnt vortech on this site. A few Buddys of mine have well over 30 k on there blowers and they run mint. I'm speaking purley off what I see.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

I've run just about every Vortech blower on my Fox. A-Trim, B-Trim, S-Trim, T-Trim, J-Trim, X-Trim, and XX-Trim. I have also run just about every ProCharger blower on my Mach. P1SC, P1SC-2, D1SC, F1A, F1C, and F1R.

Both company's make great products and both have excellent customer support. I have had seal issues with both products since they both use the same seals.

If you were to ask me for my opinion on which way to go I would say ProCharger for the following reasons...

1. Higher Step-Up ratios - Easier to make boost.
2. Self Contained - Easier to install. However, Vortech now has SC units.
3. Intercooled standard - IMHO Vortech's Aftercooler is limited and cumbersome.

Re: Any personal experience with Vortech?

Hard to follow that great post, but I've had no problems with my Vortech on this car or ones I've run on a 2000 GT and a couple of Fox body cars.

My current setup doesn't rattle on pump gas (but I'm pretty careful with it), was easy to install, and runs great. At the track I've been adding a couple gallons of race gas. I would agree with the suggestion to run methanol/water injection.
