Creaking sound from RH Passenger side solved!

Thanks to the M1R for helping me solve this annoying noise. Last night I came home from a long 12-hour shift at work and decided to look at the area pointed out in previous posts. Although I couldn't tell anything was wrong visually, I decided to go ahead and jam a washer in the seam between the top of the RH fenderwell and the rear seat support bracketry (despiration had set in). During the drive to work this morning, I was amazed that a 10 cent washer fixed that annoying azz creaking/cracking sound. I would like to know if there's a way to permanently fix this defect. From previous reading it's blamed on a spot weld that I can't even see. I'm considering just leaving the washer jammed in there and seal the seam area with some sort of rtv or foam filler. Thoughts?

Makes sense....I bought my Mach and when installing 4.10 gears I noticed halved hose pieces stuffed here and there..lol. Glad to hear your issue is history

I don't think that foam will hold. You can always run a weld along the seam instead of the spot weld.

I was thinking of that spray foam stuff that's used to fill crevices/voids (used in construction) or rtv to keep the washer secured. Guess that I'll also be paying a visit to my local welding shop to see what they can do for a permanent repair. I'm just sooo glad to have this noise gone!!!

You could use some JB Weld.

Is this the thump/clunk sound that comes and goes... sounds like it's coming out of the trunk area? Where did you put that washer? Appreciate a pic or connection to one. Thanks!

Yup, I jammed a washer in between the seam pointed out in this pic posted by another MACh 1 member. I would never have believed that annoying noise would have gone away with a washer, but it did! I didn't realize how annoying it was until it was gone.

Yea, had the same annoying squeak. I just bent the metal up a little bit and that took care of the creak.

I love this site! I had the same problem for a year and finally did a search and found a possible solution, taking a rubber mallet to it. After a few taps no more noise!

Re: Creaking sound from RH Passenger side solved!

YES! My thanks also. I just pulled the trim and the carpet away a few inches, stuck a big knife in the area, gave it a reef.
Went for a drive, no more creaking. 3 minute job.
